Many things have been going on in my research life lately. First, the two sets of a million SNPs for bald eagles and golden eagles are almost finalized for our SNP chip of 100,000 SNPs! We should be able to finalize which SNPs we are going to use in about a week, so my 480 SNP chips can be built. This will give me the ability to start and finish the last chapter of my dissertation! This is great news as I am supposed to graduate next year. The black bear project I am assisting on is also underway and I hope to be finished generating data in about two weeks, so I can spend my summer on eagle analyses. Finally, the Ozark big-eared bat diet/DNA analysis paper is published and you can read it HERE!! This was a project I assisted on during my first year as a PhD student and I am glad to see it in its final published format.

I am still waiting to hear back on a few of the fellowships I applied to. Several, have been no-goes but I did receive a $1000 Otto S. Cox fellowship from OSU which is definitely very much appreciated.

I am still making time to do outreach presentations. I recently presented information at the OSU Vet school open house (shown in picture), a Native American Health Conference, and Lake McMurtry's Spring Fling. The presentations involved several raptor species that were presented on the glove and stressed the importance of avian conservation.

There should be a huge announcement related to my work life in coming weeks. Once all the approvals are made I will finally be able to announce it on the Grey Snow Eagle House's website and Facebook. It will definitely be positive addition to the already great public outreach we are able to provide, so stay tuned.
