Cowboy Journal Interview

One of the most important things that I am able to participate in at the lab and at the Grey Snow Eagle House is education. It amazes me everyday how little the general public knows about the avian species I have loved all my life. To help spread knowledge, I created a volunteer program for undergraduate students to learn about raptor rehabilitation at the Grey Snow Eagle House several years ago. While on the surface it may appear that an experience like this would provide a very focused skill set to the volunteers, the volunteers that spend their time at the aviary have many job aspirations. Several have gone on to vet school carrying their new knowledge of avian rehabilitation techniques, wildlife law enforcement carrying their new knowledge of proper caging and care for raptors, or even USFWS carrying their new knowledge of Native American beliefs pertaining to nature. Recently, the OSU College of Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources did an article on the Grey Snow Eagle House that was focused on current volunteers or alumni from their college.
